Washington, D.C. – Today, Oregon’s U.S. Senator Jeff Merkley announced his support for Julie Su’s nomination to be Labor Secretary, after meeting to review her record. Photos of their meeting are available here.
“Julie Su is a passionate defender of workers and their families. In my blue-collar neighborhood, I see the effect stagnating wages are having on families’ ability to take on rising costs from housing, to health care, to education. Our next Labor Secretary has to be ready to unrig our economy so it works for all Americans, not just for the wealthy and well-connected. Julie Su fits the bill and is ready to open the doors of opportunity to everyone, no matter where they live, how much money they make, or what they look like.
