ONTARIO — Earlier today, U.S. Sen. Jeff Merkley visited Malheur County to update constituents on his work in Washington, D.C., answer their questions and invite their suggestions about how to tackle the challenges facing Oregon and the U.S. during one of his many town halls scheduled throughout Oregon over the course of Memorial Day weekend, visiting Malheur, Umatilla, Wallowa, Union, and Baker Counties over two days.
The town hall was held at Veterans Memorial Hall, in Ontario, and was attended by members of the community. A large focus of the town hall was on the importance of mental health, along with how it relates to Veterans. Among other topics discussed were rural development, cyber security, medical drugs pertaining to specific diseases, and many other important topics that Merkley listened to, and will seek further information to obtain solutions.
Following the town hall in Ontario, Merkley traveled to Baker County for another town hall, scheduled only one and a half hours after the conclusion of the Malheur County Town Hall.
