Merkley, Wyden announce $5 million in affordable housing for Bend

Central Oregon Daily

Senators Jeff Merkley and Ron Wyden announced $5 million for affordable housing in Bend.

The City will use this funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to lead a multi-year project.

That project is set to include several organizations and agencies to focus on three main goals:

  • Remove barriers through city planning
  • Increase housing production with affordable incentives
  • Fund construction of new units

While Bend gets money for affordable housing, Warm Springs is also getting a portion of federal funds for transportation improvements.

Merkley and Wyden announced $15 million from the U.S. Department of Transportation that will be used to design and construct improvements to Highway 26.

Creating new roundabouts and shared use paths on either side of the highway.
