PORTLAND, Ore. —
Three of Oregon’s leading lawmakers rallied Thursday against the health care bill put forward by Republican senators.
U.S. Sens. Ron Wyden and Jeff Merkley and U.S. Rep. Suzanne Bonamici came armed with examples of how they say the new bill would hurt Oregonians.
“In this bill, it proceeds to give more than $200 billion away to the richest Americans, while stripping health care from 22 million Americans,” said Merkley.
On Wednesday, Merkley and Wyden were in Eugene. They were joined by Rep. Peter DeFazio.
The senators said they’re gathering personal stories from Oregonians so they can share them on the Senate floor.
The Democratic lawmakers have been vocal in their opposition to the Republican bill proposals to repeal the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare).
