Merkley announces new measures to help OR small businesses

Oregon Senator Jeff Merkley announced on June 16 that the Senate Financial Services and General Government Appropriations bill will include provisions to help small businesses in Oregon thrive.

“Small businesses are the backbone of our economy and this bill will help get them the resources and services they need to be successful in our global economy,” Merkley said in a press release.

One key element is said to impact small brewers and wineries to fast-track labeling through the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau that has been delayed with the recent surge in similar businesses.

The bill will also include measures to foster small business development and high-tech businesses through federally-funded programs.

Next steps would send the bill to the Senate floor to be voted on.
