Declaración de Merkley sobre el cambio de regla de la EPA para calderas

Portland, OR – Oregon’s Senator Jeff Merkley issued the following statement after today’s release of the Environmental Protection Agency proposed change to the March 2011 Clean Air Act emissions standards for large and small boilers and incinerators that burn solid waste.

“I appreciate that the EPA is listening to the concerns that I and other Oregonians have raised on these two rules impacting biomass boilers. EPA’s proposed changes will make compliance significantly more practical by creating standards that better reflect the different types of boiler technologies. They have also clarified that woody biomass from forests will continue to be a legitimate fuel used in biomass boilers. These changes will help to establish a pathway to a strong biomass industry while still ensuring that we are moving toward cleaner technologies.”
