WASHINGTON, D.C. — Millions of dollars in federal money are headed into our area to help build drought resistance.
Senators Jeff Merkley and Ron Wyden announced the funds Thursday.
It’s designated for Douglas and Lane counties, which will receive $1.2 million and $4 million, respectively.
The money will be used to upgrade existing water facilities and build new ones to address the growing need and prepare for water shortages.
In a statement from Senator Merkley, he says:
As climate chaos fuels persistent drought in Oregon, supporting water efficiency and modernization is more important than ever for our communities and small businesses to thrive.
