Washington DC – U.S. Senators Ron Wyden and Jeff Merkley today announced a federal investment of $1.29 million for Bend Municipal Airport toward construction of a new air traffic control tower.
“Bend Municipal Airport is an important part of Central Oregon’s robust, local economy,” dijo Wyden. “It’s a gateway to expansion for small businesses who can ship their products quickly, or bring in potential clients or investors to witness the grandeur of Central Oregon firsthand. I’m gratified to see an investment that will help local entrepreneurs’ ideas take flight.”
“Los aeropuertos regionales son fundamentales para la seguridad y el éxito de las comunidades en todo el estado”, dijo Merkley. “These federal investments to support the construction of a permanent control tower at the Bend Airport will help ensure the region has the infrastructure necessary to support and promote air travel for Oregon businesses, flight training students, and tourists.”
The $1.29 million is an investment by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) under its Contract Tower Competitive Grant Program, which was created by theLey de Infraestructura Bipartidista.
“I wish to thank Senators Wyden and Merkley along with Congresswoman Chavez-DeRemer for their continued support. This $1,290,000 grant will fund a portion of the construction of a Traffic Control Tower at the Bend Airport creating good paying jobs and further boost the local economy while enhancing safety,” said Tracy Williams, Airport Manager.
