Coburg – Oregon’s Senator Jeff Merkley toured Cascade Sierra Solutions
and applauded federal funding for implementing projects that will create jobs,
save fuel and reduce emissions.
“With the help of Recovery Act
Funds, Cascade Sierra Solutions can create jobs in Lane County and lower diesel
truck emissions up and down the I-5 corridor,” Merkley said. “I’m glad to see
Recovery Funds laying
the foundation for economic growth in Coburg
and throughout the state.”
With the help of recovery funds,
CSS will be part of a project that will create or preserve 1,700 jobs around
the country, including several in Coburg.
Earlier this month, President
Obama announced an enormous investment in electric vehicle technology,
including about $22 million in American Recovery and Reinvestment Act money to
Cascade Sierra Solutions to fund outreach centers at major truck stops. The
centers will provide education, technology and incentives for local fleets to
reduce emissions.
Cascade Sierra Solutions is
a Coburg-based non-profit organization dedicated to saving fuel and reducing emissions
from heavy-duty diesel engine trucks in Washington, Oregon, and
California.
