MEDFORD, Ore. — U.S. Senators Jeff Merkley and Ron Wyden are co-sponsoring the HEROES Small Business Lifeline Act, which supports businesses hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The bill will provide more than $370 billion to small businesses, restaurants and live venues.
It includes a $40 billion lifeline grant program. That program provides grants of up to $50,000 to vulnerable small businesses.
Merkley says the bill supports establishing broadband, which he says is crucial right now.
“We need to get everyone wired with bandwidths and enable them to full participate in the dialogue in America and the education of America and in the business of America,” Merkley said.
Both senators say that the bill is needed so that small businesses can recover.
